All students at LSU should never feel discriminated against or less than someone else because of who they are, where they come from, what they look like, how they pray, or whom they love. As your senator, I promise to always have an open heart and mind. I will support any and all legislation that promotes the ideas of equality for all, and vehemently oppose legislation that doesn't. For anyone at our university who wakes up every morning with a pit in their stomach for a fear of what may happen to them simply because of who they are, my support for them will be unwavering and in perpetuity.
Sustainability
We are fortunate to have one of the most aesthetically pleasing campuses in the state of Louisiana and the world. It's our shared responsibility to keep LSU beautiful! I plan to support legislation and initiatives that promote keeping our campus beautiful, environmentally friendly and forward.
Transparency
I will always strive to be transparent with the students of LSU. Which is why I plan to hold town hall-style events at least once a semester for Manship students, as well as others, to come and bring their ideas, concerns, and questions to me directly.
Health
There are not enough healthy food options for students to choose from on our campus. We must fix this. There has been plans to put fruit trees around campus for students to be able to grab a quick and healthy snack on their way to class. I will work with members of the Student Senate, as well as administrators, to make this more of a reality.
Common sense
I know this should go without saying, but nowadays, we have to make sure our elected leaders have the common sense necessary to govern effectively. As new issues arise in the Senate, it's vital that you know you can trust the judgment of the person representing you. I hope you can trust my judgement just as the Dean of the Manship School, Jerry Ceppos, did when he selected me to the be one of the two undergraduate representatives to sit on the strategic plan steering committee. The committee aimed to help formulate the Manship School's strategic plan -- a plan outlining the school's future goals, objectives and aspirations.
Open to your ideas
I know that there is such a vast wealth of knowledge and unbelievable creatively in LSU students. But unfortunately, much of this never makes it into Student Government. I encourage all students to share your ideas with your senior college senator! And you can always send your ideas to me at [email protected]!
